Does what it's made to do..

Bought this to connect to my Dish Network receiver to use DishOnLine. The moment I plug the Netgear XEB1004 into the wall outlet and the cable from the router, the Dish Network receiver recognized the network (since the Dish receiver is Home Plug compatible). The download speeds are fast.
This thing does what it is advertized to do. It will give you networking capability throughout your entire house at unbelievable speeds. It will not however give you a connection from one house to another.

This thing has major issues when you use it far away from the outlet where the first adapter is plugged in. For example, I have my router in the living room and therefore have one of the adapters plugged in the living room. The second adapter is in the basement. The connectivity is not that great. I have an ISP that provides 15Mbps bandwidth.
The other thing is that this thing makes a noise -kind of like a dog whistle. It is annoying. So, I unplug it before I go to sleep.

I will keep it though because it helps in 70% of the things I do in my PC in the basement. I will have to sacrifice on watching streaming movies in the basement.

I bought this product two months ago when I went to staples casually. I didn't had great expectations about this product. I bought this because I needed it badly. I had setup this in less than a minute and started using. Speed is excellent!!! It is giving me the same speed as regular wireless network. Believe me, it is an excellent product. I never thought this will be so efficient. Simply it is the best in their category of products.

This was the easiest network device I have ever setup. It is truly plug & play. After I was using this new powerline network kit I did install the utility that came on the included disk. This utility is handy and it did show I was connecting at less than 85MBs. However I am using it for a Sling Box Solo HD and streaming my AppleTV content with no issues at all to my phone and other computers. It works great!
