The Powerline 500 WiFi Access Point creates a high speed WiFi N access point at any power outlet in your home. It offers easy, plug-and-play setup and provides ultra fast WiFi Internet coverage, going through the walls and the floors, for the most demanding applications. It is ideal for connecting iPads, smart phones, tablets and laptops to the Internet throughout your home.
High-Speed Wi-Fi Access
The NETGEAR Powerline Wi-Fi access point provides Wi-Fi access at speeds up to 300 Mbps, so you can easily connect laptops, smartphones, and tablets to the Internet in areas of the building where access is normally not available. It's perfect for homes or offices with multiple floors that need Wi-Fi access in areas not reachable by the modem alone.
With the NETGEAR Powerline Wi-Fi access point, you get an extended network without significantly increasing your energy use. Each access point has a power switch, so you can manually turn off the access point when you don't plan to use it, and an automatic shutoff feature that senses when the device is not in use and shuts down the device to conserve energy.
The NETGEAR Powerline Wi-Fi access point is easy to install, so you can plug it in and begin using it immediately, even if you aren't an IT expert. The pick-a-plug LED indicator will let you know if the plug you choose is acceptable, and you can automatically connect to your network with the simple push of a button.

Strong Signal In Far Corner of Basement
Comments about Netgear XWNB5201-100PAS Powerline 500 Wi-Fi Access Point:
Provided strong signal in far corner of basement (I use it as a wireless transmitter). A little difficult to set-up with an Apple Airport (follow the directions on CNET site). We use it with macs, PCs, and iphones. Seems like the two outlets must be on the same circuit breaker box. Works well!
