The Nexus 10 was easy to use right out of the box. It was alreay charged. I did charge it overnite and used it all the next day. It's easy to get a full day's use from the tablet without worrying about battery life. The clarity of the screen is beyond description - sharp (and I wear strong lens glasses), no hesitation when scrolling and is not blurry in the slightest. I did get a carrying case (from staples - 20% coupon off the $40 cost. I also picked up a stylus to make things easier. There are more apps than you could possibly need (a ton of them are free) and they load without any problems. In summary, everything about this tablet is "smooth".

Let's be clear, this a great Android Tablet. There are a few big flaws to note before making the investment.

Graphics are great, and rival the Ipad easily. I love the floating apps on Android that allow you to multi task, unlike the ipad. Sound and multimedia are spectacular.

The major flaws to note are

*Battery life is horrible (around 5 hours)
*Chrome freezes and reboots the tablet (happens quite often).
*Integrated web video other than you tube vids do not play as well as the ipad when web browsing.
* The Bezel is just way too big and ugly.

Other than the flaws above, it's a great tablet. If you're torn between this tablet and the ipad, it all depends on what your needs are. I prefer thsi tablet because of the multitasking. For example, I can watch the news on a pop up video browser and still brows the web or read my e-mail. You can't do that on an ipad. Android also has a file system, unlike Ipad (or apple).....

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. The display on the Nexus 10 is nothing short of stunning -- and as a student who frequents reading, text is crisp and a pleasure to read. The product itself feels very sturdy, though not too heavy (<2 lbs). The camera quality (front and back) is solid, which is important for video-conferencing via G+ Hangout. Speakers are good too. In terms of processing, the tablet is lag-free and has taken most* of what I've thrown at it (websites, videos).

The only issues I came across were related to jellybean 4.1.2. In particular, there were random reboots* which, based on reading Google forums, are software-related. The next Android update should remedy this. Another challenge is the low brightness - but downloading the app: lux brightness fixes this. Finally, I think there is an issue with video codecs since the processor of the N10 is the first of its generation (part and parcel of using 'cutting edge' tech).

For those interested in using their tablet as a phone (text and call), I recommend purchasing the app: tablet talk.

I drove myself a little bit crazy researching tablets before deciding to go with a Nexus 10. I was already leaning toward Android OS, but carefully checked out iPads and the RTSurface first. Eventually it was down to Nexus 7 vs. Nexus 10. I was pretty sure that Nexus 7 would fit my needs (sufficiently large but super portable), but at the last minute decided to spring for the somewhat larger Nexus 10.
I THINK I made the right decision, although a part of me still wonders if I would have been just as happy (maybe happier!) with the somewhat smaller (but also lighter and more 'one-handed') Nexus 7 at approx half the price.
Display on the Nexus 10 is beautiful (as advertised), and I'm extremely pleased with the virtual keyboard. Switching among apps has been speedy and reliable. Basic screen layout is quite intuitive and easy to tweak to meet my needs. (I have an Android phone as well, so there really isn't much of a learning curve here.)
WiFi and Bluetooth connections set up easily; with a couple of app downloads I was able to tether to my phone for times when there is no wifi available. E-mail up and running immediately. Any of the apps on my (also Android) phone that were compatible were immediately ported from Google Play, so I didn't need to go hunting for many of my go-to apps. I'm still looking for a few good productivity apps that are optimized for tablet, but I'm pretty functional for note-taking, appointments, viewing/minor editing of documents/spreadsheets already.
I've only viewed a couple of movies, but the experience was great (this is why I'm glad I went with the 10" screen), no stuttering or lags.
So far, one unexpected shutdown. I've only had the tablet for a week, so I'll keep an eye on this. Bottom line -- I'm very pleased with my decision and would definitely recommend this tablet for anyone thinking Android.
