We purchased the camera to go on vacation to Germany. It was easy to use, but had some focusing issues when taking large panoramic shots or using the telephoto lens. It is important to make sure the autofocus is centered to get a clear picture.

The camera is lightweight, easy to carry, simple to download pictures from and fun to use.

The battery needed recharging about 10 days into the trip. We had taken approximately 250 photos, many without flash. While the battery was not completely drained, the indicator appeared. Something to keep in mind for long trips or when shooting lots of photos.

Very poor indoor performance. Even with normal indoor lighing, camera just can't focus on subject's face (I am talking about normal portrait type zoom from a 4-6 Feet distance).

Without any zoom, takes great pictures - even in the dark! The whole point of buying this camera is the 5x zoom, but what's the use if it won't work even at 2x !

Use point & shoot features for grandchildren's precious moments and for pocket camera for vacations.

12 MP is ultra clear. I'm a nikon snob and only wanted the nikor lenses (will buy the SLR next and upgrade from Nikon film camera). The scene settings are easy to maneuver and the camera is simplistic enough to take out of the box, charge, point & shoot.

The cons: this is a VERY small camera with very small setting buttons and dials. I have very difficult time reading the dial settings (my camera is black) and even with small hands it is a little difficult to manipulate. But as point and shoot cameras go, I would buy it again!

- Has great night mode settings and performs surprisingly well
- VERY POOR Performance indoors - even with normal indoor lighting : If you try to zoom in on subject's face, camera just can't focus. VERY ANNOYING. Almost useless indoors!
- Long shutter lag
- Poor Color ReProduction : Dark Green comes out as Dark Grey...
- Not just a faulty piece : my buddie and I purchased at the same time and had the same problem.
- Called support - was advised to send in for repair!!!!

Overall not at all impressed and going to return this one.

I was going back and forth between Nikon and Canon. Both have great reputations. I bought this because It was on sale and I had Staples Reward Bucks that were due to expire in 2 days and ran out of time for more research. I was very disappointed. I was looking for something that had a faster shutter speed so i wouldn't miss the great shots of my very active 1 year old. Not only did it take pics slower than my 5 year old Kodak. It took even twice as long to process the picture to the memory card. The battery died after maybe 2 total hours of use. Needless to say I returned it. After doing some more research on CNET.com I purchased another Kodak, The EasyShare Z915. Right out of the box it was 10 times faster than the Nikon and was on sale even cheaper.

This camera seems to be prone to distortion with just the slightest movement. Also if the subject moves at all the picture is fuzzy. I have yet to figure out the best settings for indoor photos...some come out good and other barely visible. When you get a good shot the image is great and sharp.
