Warranty hassle - replacement bulb cost

Warranty for 2 years and lamp average life of 10000 hours. Bulb failed after 5 months/1000 hours of use. Ballast/starter ran hot and likely defective cause of short life. Staples will not warranty lamp, regardless must go to mfg to beg. Try to buy a bulb for the [$] lamp and it will cost $25.74 ($15.79 for bulb + $9.95 shipping). Better way to go is get the $9.95 gooseneck desk lamp and use a real light 10watt compact fluorescent bulb. Saves money and the one piece bulb has the ballast/starter built into the bulb for about $3. Of course if you have time for the hassle this might be the way to go, but there is no "easy button" attached.

Light folds into itself to concerve space. Light takes a short while start up but it's really neglible otherwise good lamp.

This should be called the "NOTT-LITE"...advertised to enhance vision, it gives off very dim light and does not enhance anything.
