Most of my Sharpie retractable markers stopped retracting soon after I put them into use. I usually have to beat the tip on a surface to get it to retract. So far, all of the Oxo ones I've bought have worked perfectly. The only drawback is that the Oxo is a two-handed operation versus the one-handed operation of the Sharpie pens. But, hey, the Oxo works without pounding it to death.

I like this product way better than the sharpie markers. However the only problem is the way the marker retracts. Its a turn not a click type pen. So whenever someone picked it up to see how it functioned they would pull the entire thing apart. That happened 3 times therein ruining my marker fairly quickly. The little sticker with the arrows to indicate the way the pen turns didn't help. need to come up with a different way to make the pen retract.
