I work many hours at my computer and work some days from home. I was told by my physical therapist that the ergonomics of my home computer workstation were aggravating conditions with my spine. The therapist suggested I would benefit from a kneeling chair to improve my posture and strenthen my back muscles for continued posture improvement. So I investigated the choices. I wanted the least expensive chair I could find but only if it was going to do the job. I chose this chair specifically due to comments found on other cheaper chairs that the padding was insufficient to provide adequate comfort. I also chose this chair because it was height adjustable. So the memory foam and height adjustments have been important features for me. I have not been dissappointed in either of those features.

Assembly went smoothly and was not really difficult. I did find that an extra person improved the ease of assembly so that one person could hold it while the other person put in the part, etc.

I have not found anything to complain about with this chair. I think I made the right choice of economy vs. features and comfort.

I'm a veteran of many kneeling chairs, used both at home and at the office. The style is great; if you're shopping for them, though, look elsewhere. This chair has a huge amount of padding--far more than I've seen before, and it's nice and soft on the knees. The thick foam does tend to bunch in the very middle, though, which causes the knees to spread with use; I have to reposition my knees every minute or two. Most important, though: I bought the mahogany variant of this chair, and was surprised to see that the primary support beam (the circular near-vertical one under you) is made of mahogany as well. [...].But the fact is, this support is far too essential to trust to a thin piece of wood. (Yes, it's thick in the middle of the beams, but it's just a quarter-inch surrounding plastic near the edges.) I weigh just 140 pounds and sit gently on the chair--no rocking or jumping or anything--and yet today, while I was typing, this part on my chair *broke*, dropping my butt about a foot before depositing me on the floor. I've had the chair for not quite three months. Examination shows that the wood along this support beam has cracked vertically on both sides of the beam. The design is flawed, as the material--while attractive--was a poor choice for a structural member. Get a chair with a metal support beam; I will.

Comments about Office Star Ergonomic Fabric Knee Chair, Black/Mahogany:

I am very disappointed with the order. I ordered a kneeling chair and received "parts" of a kneeling chair. Wholes in the wood are too small so I had to drive to Staples store and asked to assemble it. Second disappointment when I finally brought it home - the kneeling chair is for a short person not for somebody 5'7. My elbows are 20 inches above my desk. The chair is not possible to adjust.

Comments about Office Star Ergonomic Fabric Knee Chair, Black/Mahogany:

For the most part was ok however the seat slants a little too much and with no way to adjust the tilt it just didn't quite work for me. I am short and maybe someone taller it would not be an issue. Have ended up exchanging it for another model that appears the seat is mounted on a more upright base.

As far as ergonimics goes it was good. Noticed the first day a difference in my legs not having the circulation cut off and my shoulders did not ache for the 1st time in a while.

Comments about Office Star Ergonomic Fabric Knee Chair, Black/Mahogany:

In 1990 someone brought a similar chair for me to try at work. My EVP thought it looked to weird so I wasn't allowed to use at work. Had I been using this type of chair all these years I wouldn't have the back problems. A normal chair you lean forward when working on computers so you never get that lower back support. The memory foam in the seat is fantastic and I sit up straight which relieves the back pain. I was thrilled when I saw you carried this type of chair and told three other Staple's customers who were looking at chairs this was the only way to go. I have in my home office but will be purchasing another for work. I'll never sit in the standard office chair again.

Comments about Office Star Ergonomic Fabric Knee Chair, Black/Mahogany:

I am very satisfied with this chair now after the assembly. Several comments, however. I could not assemble the seat as it arrived because one of the four holes for the bolt that attaches the cushion to its base was too close to another wooden part of that base and thus the bolt emerged diagonally through the hole and could not be screwed in. So I needed to chisel some of the wood to allow the bolt to line up with the built-in nut. Also, only one Allen key was supplied but two keys are needed in order to tighten each one of two pivot pins. Also, I wish Staples would improve its service regarding delivery to the store: 1. The Staples website did not provide an update on delivery date. 2. A Staple's store employee advised me that I should wait for a phone call/email for pickup from store - I needed to call the store repeatedly for delivery. I already have the chair and have yet to receive a phone call/email.[@] system is certainly superior to that of Staples. I was disappointed.

According to Office Star, the wheels on this chair do not lock. Unfortunately, it does not appear we have a Knee Chair with that feature. To place an order for this item, please contact Staples at 1-800-333-3330.

            A:

My experience was that the height adjustment on this chair is only one adjustment which both raises the seat higher from the floor, and tilts the seat more as it gets higher and raises the knee pad for lesser distance between the seat and knees. I adjusted my seat higher due to the surface where my keyboard would be being higher and needing to get my arms at a right angle from my body ergonomically when typing. I adjust my posture for my back by choosing to have my knees forward more on the knee pad or rearward more on the knee pad. The knee pad has a lot of room front to back to choose. My height is only 5'6" although most of my height is in my legs not my torso. So I cannot be sure if a 6' person (you did not mention the height you needed to accomodate) would find enough distance between the seat and knee pad. This is working for me.

            A:

I don't think it does but just recalled putting it together there are holes drilled that the part (looking at the picture it would be right under the seat and connected to the back wheels) that basically props the two pieces in place. I don't see why you couldn't drill two more holes lower on that piece and that would allow the knee pads to be further away from the seat itself.

            A:

Not his one - there is another model with metal legs that will adjust the height of the seat which them gives more space for longer legs. I also am tall and find it very comfortable.
