I purchased this to solve a problem in a cramped office. There are some very appealing things about the design - it's a very clever use of limited space, and it really is a lot of desk for the price. But you need to be aware of a few problems.

First, it's a pretty significant assembly job. There are 41 parts and some 200 pieces of hardware to hold it together. No advanced carpentry skills needed, but you do need the patience (and a few common tools) and time to build it from 31 steps of pictorial instructions.

Not surprisingly for the price, it's cheap particle-board with a thin veneer. The finish looks pretty nice, although I think "mahogany" would be a much more accurate term for the color than "light old wood", whatever that means.

In the end, we had two problems with dimensions and one with function that made us decide to return it:

1) The keyboard tray has an inside width of 24", not enough room for standard keyboard and a small mousepad side-by-side. The desk is 36" wide - why couldn't the tray have used a little more of that?

2) The keyboard tray slides far out, but has no stops. Find a comfortable depth, start typing, and the keyboard starts moving away from you!

3) The lip of the hutch's cubby shelf is just 14-1/2" above the desktop, leaving no room for any reasonably modern flat-screen monitor to fit under that shelf. At best, you can put your monitor about halfway to the back of the desk - too close to the eyes for comfort.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but this desk didn't fill the bill for a computer desk.
