This is an absolutely excellent product. I had purchased it after doing my homework with other user reviews, and I believe cnet or something similar had ranked its more expensive counterpart (Olympus WS-331)as one of the best splurges. I decided to go with the 40 dollar cheaper version, whose only difference is 1GB less memory.
As I found out, it really doesn't matter for shorter recordings. I use this recorder mostly for lectures, and in lecture halls of over 300 people, it picks up the professor perfectly. As always, there is some background noise (as the professor is speaking into a microphone that projects into the room) but even when I was sitting in the back of a NOISY classroom of 300, I still managed to pick up the professor and can understand him. The device also has sound bars that show you the sound level of the recording, great at letting you know you're picking up what you intend to record.
The 1GB memory has never been an issue. If it starts to fill up, I just transfer the files to my computer easily through the built in USB port. It is excellent to organize your files and distribute the recordings. Has a noise canceling option in play back, though I haven't tried using it; it hasn't been necessary. The buttons are clear and easy to use. It runs off of a single AAA battery.

SO overall, great product for a college student wishing to use a voice recorder for a long time. I have even used it to record myself singing and playing the guitar, and the quality is great. Highly recommended!

Great for class lectures. Sound quality better than expected. It did take me some time to go through the manual to figure it out, but I am not tech savvy.

It's a very useful tool. I can easily press a button and it starts recording. I can even rename one of the recordings in each folder to help me remember which class is in which folder. I like how it tells you the date and time it was recorded. the buttons are big enough for such a compact recorder and there aren't too many buttons to make it confusing to work with.
