I purchased 1Gig a year ago for my Pavilion and have experienced better startup/shutdown, better multitasking and overall better performance of "task" operations. Even if you've never installed memory before, this is easy. The next time it's on sale I'm getting another stick! Suggestion for replaced memory: find a friend that needs a laptop upgrade!

This product caused immediate problems with a blue screen error. Upon return to the store, I was told to come back and see the technician that installed the memory. So after another trip to the store, the same technician ran a scan through a jump drive only to tell me that the blue screen error was totally unrelated to the new memory installed.

Totally frustrated at this point, I took the computer to another company for repair. After paying significant money for diagnostic testing, I was told the blue screen error was due to a bad memory stick and upon removal of the memory stick, the blue screen error no longer occurred.

Thanks a lot to Staples for the extra time and money I had to put in to repair a problem that was created by this memory stick.

    Comments about PNY 1GB (1 x 1GB) DDR (200-Pin SDRAM) DDR 333 (PC 2700) Universal Laptop Memory:

I have learned that PNY is a reliable company and its products are good with reasonable prices. No fancy packaging or other frills, just a good product. My laptop was running slow with many messege errors reported. I thought I would have to get another laptop because of all the problems I was having with it. Took it in for servicing and was told that installation of this memory booster would help and prevent or reduce the number of screen freezes and error messeges. I have had excellent results.

          Comments about PNY 1GB (1 x 1GB) DDR (200-Pin SDRAM) DDR 333 (PC 2700) Universal Laptop Memory:

I own a Dell Latitude D505 Laptop Computer. It originally contained a 1GB Memory Card. After using the computer for a few minutes, this message would appear on the screen: "Too much memory is being used. Please close all programs, shut down the computer, and reboot." This message has not appeared since adding this new PNY 1GB (1 x 1GB) DDR (200-Pin SDRAM) DDR 333 (PC 2700) Universal Laptop Memory by PNY Technologies.

Besides fixing the above problem, the additional 1GB RAM memory card has speeded up the input to video programs, making them run more smoothly.

This is a single unit of RAM. You will need to check the specifications of your notebook to determine if the RAM needs to be installed in pairs.

            • A:

              Yes.

I checked various online auto-memory selectors, and Dell website about this model machine.
It looks like you have (1) permanent 256MB chip installed, AND (1) available slot that can accept up to 1GB of memory. This PNY is the appropriate size (200-pin SODIMM) and speed (PC2700/ 333MHz DDR).
Note: since you only have one slot that you can change, any memory in that single slot will need to be disposed of (sold, traded, given away). You can have a maximum of (1) SODIMM up-to 1GB in storage to add with the (user cannot remove) "permanent" 256 MB chip inside. You max total with this 1GB (or any other compatible one) will be 1280 MB.
              (1024 MB = 1GB) + ( 256MB) = 1280 MB.
(maybe "1.2 GB".. but that's not common to see)

This total should be okay for Windows 98/2000/XP.. but probably too little for Vista or Win7.
Stick to the older MS Operating Systems or switch over to one of the GNU/Linux or other general-purpose operating systems.

I am not expert enough about computers to know. However, I can recommend that you contact an Easy Tech team member (at a Staples store or otherwise) to find out about its compatibility with your Dell Inspiron 2200.

You need to know the proper type of Ram your computer is capable of accepting. Always go to the computer manufacturers specifications for proper replacement or upgraded parts. Know the type and amount of ram the computer can handle, then search for the proper replacement or addition!
