I had problems w/ my dimension 3000 after it dragged and performed miserably one day last October (I loved it and had no problems prior to this event). At first, I dealt with it. Later, I couldn't take it anymore. I called for help after thinking I had a virus or some other spooky little Gremlin in my system. Everything checked out. My system was bug free. Tech support suggested that my memory module should be upgraded to 2 Gb to suit my business needs. I was floored when he told me the cost of the upgrade! Well, I really didn't want to shell out that kind of money. After a while, I thought about how much time it was costing me to sit and wait at my screen. I finally decided to purchase their upgrade last Friday, but I did a Staple check beforehand.[...] The fact that it was on sale at a fraction of the retail cost made my decision to procrastinate pay off. Long story short: I purchased 2 gb on Saturday, installed them in 2 minutes and now ALL SYSTEMS ARE A GO!!! My Dell is now in overdrive !!!!! Thanks for reviving my computer's life (and mine:) ).

PNY is a good product, but 2 much $$

All memory upgrades provide a low cost speed boost, XP needs 128mb to boot up, 512mb is bare minimum to run/crawl along the internet, but with 1GB it's fast, 2GB it flies....Read complete review

Double everything for Vista/Windows 7.Not quite sure why Staples is so high on all their RAM Prices ( I buy a lot of other stuff there thats competively priced or better than others ) but all the tech stores on line have this for [$] all day long.

Comments about PNY 1GB PC3200 400MHz DDR Desktop DIMM:

I read over 100 reviews, go no further. This is plug and play technology, just insert into motherboard. Easy to install. The internet moves with speed and ease again. Noticable difference in browsing speed on my 4 year old machine.

I was initially concerned when the COMPAQ website said the max RAM for my machine was 1G while the STAPLES PNY application determined 2G max.

STAPLES was right ! No need to return anything.
