Q: Can you transfer the files from the usb flash drive to your laptop and have these file stay in your laptop without the flash drive? Asked on 5/12/2012 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: Yes! This is a very simple procedure to carry out. In Windows, after the drive is plugged in and recognized, click onto that drive, single-right-click (click the right mouse button once) on the file you wish to transfer. A menu will pop up. When it does, select CUT. This will tell Windows that you wish to remove the file from the USB drive. Next, go to someplace on your PC that you wish to place the file, such as the desktop. Single-right-click again. The same menu will pop up again. This time, select PASTE. This will permanently migrate the files onto your desktop, so you won't need the USB drive. In Mac OSX, the procedure is nearly the same, except that some Macs have single button mice. To access the same single-right-click menu, you will need to press the CTRL key on the keyboard, then click the mouse button. Also, you can click and drag file from the USB drive, and then place them onto the desktop (or any other folder) on the Mac. Answered on 5/13/2012 by Community Answer from None
