Where do I begin, I love that these handsets use two replaceable AAA size NiMH batteries per handset. Panasonic includes ten 800mAH Panasonics with mine (same as the Sanyo Eneloops)! No more being charged $12 - $25 for custom battery packs! I've spent a small fortune on NiCAD battery packs for my two old (still working) Panasonic 900MHz digital cordless phones. And the batteries seem to last a bit over a week while off their charger (standby).

Speaking of which, my Panasonic 900MHz digital cordless phones have flip covers over the keypad with minimal buttons. The cover turned the phone on and off. Now, this Panasonic DECT phone uses the Talk button for turning the phone on and I can put the phone back into the base charger to hang up. This is important since I have family members that are technologically challenged. Compared to other expandable cordless phones with charging bases, these handsets have fewer buttons and the important ones (like the Talk button) are back lit to make it easier to see.

Programming many of the functions were pretty intuitive or natural to me so that I did not have to read the user's manual for programming many of the basic functions. The manual helps cover the rest.

The handset charging LED goes out after the NiMH batteries are fully charged so the yellow LED light may be only annoying at night until it fully charges.

Regardless of what some of the details say these phones DO HAVE a headphone jack so you can use the phones hands-free (lower left side of the phone as you view the front with the buttons).

I like that I can us the intercom to call a specific handset (even the base). Unfortunately, I cannot set a name for each handset (each is just known by its number from 1 to 6). So I need to remember where each handset is located. The intercom feature only broadcasts to all handsets from the base station. There is a locator button on the base station so you can find that missing handset.

The phonebook entries automatically alphabetize themselves. All 50 of them.

I think the pricing for the five handset Panasonic offer was better than the three set (KX-TG6443T). I find the cost was forty dollars for two more handsets. Considering that one additional handset and charger seems to go for about $40 - $50, this is a bargain. And even if you don't use them all at the same time, if I or someone drops and damages one, I easily have a spare.

PROS:

Setting up the phones out of the box is easy. The set up menu is easy and intuitive.

Fewer buttons that are backlit makes using the phone easier for the technologically challenged.

Two replaceable AAA size NiMH batteries per handset is easier to find and replace than custom battery packs.

So you get to choose how many handsets (two to five) you need or want to afford at the same time. If you can afford all five, get it. I don't think you'll regret it.

CONS:

The belt clips just clip on either side of the phone so I don't expect them to be very secure. Too bad they didn't design them to screw on so that would be secure yet if I snapped the clip, I could still replace the clip.

The intercom feature only allows you to broadcast to all handsets from the base station. You cannot broadcast (shout out) to all handsets from one of the handsets.

I had read the reviews that said the phone was cheap, but pleasantly surprised not so. The had sets are very light weight but you easily get used to that. I especially like all the handsets around the house. I added the phone book to one handset and it appeared in all of them. It has a handy belt clip. The sound is good. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I think i like just about everything on this phone so far but I've only had it a week.

The best thing about this phone is the handsets. Each one displays what's going on with the phone line: Caller Id, if the phone line is in use by another handset, if there are messages, charge status for that handset etc. You can do all the functions from each handset: check voicemail, intermcom other handset, update contacts etc. If someone enters a phone number on one handset is entered for all. Each handset also has speakerphone & mute. But the very best feature of each handset is that they can be individually set for "Silent Mode". I don't want to hear the phone ringing in my room everytime someone in the house gets a calls.

The Intercom feature is nice, for those of us too lazy to walk up & down the stairs. I can let someone know i'm stepping out without traipsing around the house.

Did i really need 5 phone? Not really, but it's great having a phone or two on each floor (including the basement). For the difference in cost for a phone system with less handsets, I'll consider the others back up if something goes wrong with one of em.

The phones are great. The manual could be better organized. The base station sticks out too far when wall mounted.

Now I have 4 phones that have the same features and work together
