I wanted my granddaughter to know the feel of writing with a fountain pen. I would have bought her a new pen but couldn't afford the prices. I have several fountain pens that I've bought over the years and even though they cost under $5.00, they write perfectly well. I also have quite a few caligraphy pens and a whole set of them cost under $40.00 so I see no use in paying over [$] for just one pen, bring back the useful, under $5.00 pens!

I used blue ink before (purchased in England) and it flowed easily and consistently. Maybe the black that I have bought here is thicker and occasionally the line breaks up a little. Nothing too drastic- it is serviceable, but not as smooth as I would have liked.

              I found a beautiful old fountain pen. Unfortunately, there's no cartridge in it and the only markings on it are Jaguar (but not the one I see when I do a search on Jaguar fountain pens) and the tip say iridium point Germany. It looks like this refill will work, but I need to know the exact dimensions - length and circumferance.

                I use a Parker fountain pen so I have this cartridge in my drawer. It is exactly 3 inches long from tip to tip. The opening where the nib fits into the cartridge is 1/8 inch (measured across the opening) and the neck a little less than 1/4 inch measured the same way. The circumference at the "shoulder" or the widest point, is 7/8 inch.
