Best For Documents and Checks

The Pentel Energel Deluxe Retractable has a reliable retractable function. The less expensive Pentels don't handle this well, especially if the refill is replaced from medium to bold point.
Either point has the great advantage of drying quickly. You can highlight over a newly written entry without smearing the ink. [not so, Pilot inks].
The ink is reasonably waterproof, with good depth of color in blue, which I prefer for original documents.
Using the bold size refill makes those tiny check copies, your bank sends you on your statement, easy to read. Excellent product!

For people with large hands?

I love how this pen writes, however the barrel is too large to hold on to comfortably for long periods of time. The whole pen is pretty big.

I have been using these pens for quite some time now. One of the ways I measure a pen's form and function is how quickly it "disapears"in the course of everyday business. Suffice to say; I try to keep a box of these around (and out of sight).

One of the other things I like about this pen is that it seems to give you a "hint" before it runs out of ink.

They are not exactly inexpensive as everyday pens go, but I believe they are worth it.

I have used this pen in both black and blue for ten years, in both professional and personal settings, as have others in my profession. It is perfect for all uses except on slick paper or cards. Perhaps all gel pens have the problem of slow-drying ink - I don't know.

Is it a needle point, or medium point, or literally, a medium needlepoint as opposed to a fine needlepoint? To be specific, I have been getting some great refills, which are a 0.7 Needle point, for some old pens. At the store, I only find 0.5 in Needle point, and they are labeled as Fine Needlepoint. So, if I want pens that are 0.7 Needlepoint, would that be the Needle Tip, Medium Point?
