    comfortable pen to use. the ink takes just a little too long to dry. It doesn't work well on coated or plastic surfaces, but on paper, it's great

        I have used, and loved, the Pentel EnerGel pen, model # BL17-A, for years. I just went to order more of these from Staples.com and found they are no longer available. Seems the closest thing now is the BL27 EnerGel NV?........... Can ANYONE tell me how the new model BL27 compares with the older BL17? Better? Worse? About the same? Any knowledgeable feedback much-appreciated! Tom in CT

          I would say that these pens are very similar considering that they are both liquid gel pens.

          The Pental BL27 item 343571, will work the same pen as the BL17A, and the only difference is the way the pen was made.
