Please Note: The description on these refills is wrong. It says "Needle Tip" but they are not needle tips. They are standard ball-point tips. The picture and the manufacturer's model number (LR7-V) are correct for the ball-point tip. The Needle Tip is LRN7-V and Staples does not seem to carry them as of this writing. The Needle Tip is much better when using the pen with straight-edges and drawing templates since it sits cleaner and closer to the template without smearing ink onto the template.

Aside from that, like all gel based pens, these write clean, smooth, and require no pressure to make good solid lines. The purple ink stands out well and dries quickly. Of course, like all gel based pens, they do run out of ink somewhat quicker than conventional ball-point types and buying refills is much more economical than buying entirely new pens.

Curiously, Staples stocks the Needle Tip pens and the Ball-Point Tip refills, but does not carry the Ball-Point Tip pens and the Needle Tip refills. I suspect someone left the "N" off when adding the refills to the catalog and the error has been carried forward.

Maybe it will get fixed, so check the manufacturer's part number.

I love this color for my pen. It is the refill to the Pental Energel alloy pen. Writes great! Bought one for my sister.
