This is now my new favorite mechanical pencil. I always wanted to try these out and for the price-buy 1 get 1 free, it is worth it. Pentel makes a very good quality mechanical pencil. The lead on this pencil is easy to advance and will not break on you as opposed to others in the market. It has a big, refillable eraser if you do a lot of erasing. The grip is comfortable for extra periods of writing. It writes as smooth as a ball point or rollerball pen. I'm very happy I bought these and it's no wonder that these are one of the top 30 pencils/pens that Staples sells. Trust me, you will like these mechanical pencils.

Never run out of eraser

The attraction of this mechanical pencil was its longer eraser and .7 lead size. However, after using it for awhile I noticed the erasur (which is extended by twisting a control circle) keeps retracting into the pencil as I used the eraser. A quick turn on the control circle would extend it again but the constant need to keep twisting the controler is a nuisance. I use the new mechanical pencial to work Sudoko puzzles where I need to write a lot of small 'possible' numbers in a square and then erase those smaller numbers once I've concluded that number will not work. Thus I do a lot of erasing!!! The new pencil 'sort of works' but could be improved with better human factors engineering. Bill

This pencil has a huge eraser. I do lots of writing on wood as a cabinet maker and have to erase on rough surfaces. Most mechanical pencils have tiny erasers that last a week or less. This one lasts for months and comes with refils that extend the usefulness even more. It also comes with lead refils. The eraser does not smear or streak but leaves the paper very clean. Even if you don't make a lot of mistakes the pencil is very comfortable and easy to use. I would recommend this pencil for students and anyone who does a lot of note taking also.

My 9th grader tells me this is "THE" pencil in High School -- I made a special trip to the store to find it. My only gripe is that the store stocks LOTS of pentel eraser refills, but didn't have the E10 one in the store.
