Recently my mother-in-law started a new job. She was annoyed about the quality of pens they supplied, so she came to me. She was looking for a pen that had "a needle like tip, dark black ink, gel ink, and a retractable tip." I immediately told her to use the Pilot G-2. She had previously used the G-2 05, but she wanted a finer tip still. I knew exactly that she needed to have the G-2 0.38. As I expected, she LOVED these pens and went to buy a box of her own instead of taking mine.
For me, these pens are fabulous. I tend too press really hard when I write causing my hand to cramp and hurt before my writing needs are done for the day. These G-2s allow me to hold the pen lighter,and I don't have the cramping hand and wrist before I am finished writing. They work great, and my mother-in-law is happy, which is very important. ;-))

I use this pen every day all day. I found all other larger point gels to give a far too thick line for my writing style. A .38 gel is exactly what I need. You can't be the true black richness of a gel.

The 0.38mm tip is as small as anyone should go for normal everyday use. The Pilot G-2 0.38mm is perfect for the job. Nice thin lines allow for writing very small.

This pen is an excellent choice for people like myself, a nurse, who write a lot of notes and medical documentation. The ink flow is smooth and consistent, resulting in a document that has an high degree of contrast and photocopies very well.

I have used this pen on a wide variety of paper types and have always been pleased with the results. I have not seen any wicking on coarser paper, such as carbonless forms, that I have seen with other gel ink pens.

I have reviewed documentation written years ago with this pen and have seen no indication of fading or discoloration.

Highly recommended.

Physicians are known for illegible handwriting and I am no exception. I had been using the 0.5 mm extra fine, but once I started to use this uptrafine point I can't go back. The 0.38mm pen is a smooth writer and now I can read my own handwriting, as others can (usually) as well. It writes smoothly and lasts a long time.

My wife's writing is also legibility-challenged and likes to use these for the same reason.
