Doesn't always recognize the monitor

Comments about QVS® MSV102P 2 Port VGA Video Share Switch:

I bought this switch for my wife as she works from home occasionally and wants to use our home PC monitor with her business laptop. For some reason, the switch sometimes recognizes the monitor as an hp 2009m but sometimes does not and refers to it as a generic non-PnP monitor. When the switch is unable to recognize the monitor, I am unable to set the right resolution of 1600x900 and must use an unoptimized resolution with a distorted screen
