Very upset that someone had written on this chalkboard and didn't erase it well, so when my daughter opened it (it was a gift)it looked used and not new as it was supposed to be!

Opened the top of the box at store, it seemed O.K. Couldn't see the defect until you "seasoned" the board and near the bottom it had a bump and a divot, like it was pushed from both sides. O.K. for garage use.

Used in our play room. Product needed additional screws in the middle which were not provided. If not, the surface is uneven and moves. We screwed it into the wall for safety.

Can the ledge for the chalk be removed? I want to hang it low for kids, but concerned the ledge might injure kids walking too close to wall.

  The ledge for the chalk on the bottom rail is a part of the rail and cannot be removed, unless the entire bottom rail is removed.
