Does this board have a flat back? I would like to put magnetic strips on the back of the board so that it could be hung on a metal file cabinet.

  The board does has a flat back, but is mounted by using screws, which may make it difficult to attach to a metal file cabinet.

  This dry erase board uses a T type pin / pass through system to mount to the wall. There is no way to hang it safety without causing some slight damage to the surface. Another option is to use an Easel like item # 875379.

  The manufacturer does not offer any alternative hanging tools for this product. Quartet does advise that you use their mounting hardware for the best results.
