I've been using Quicken Deluxe for years. My last edition was 2009. Since then my computer crashed twice (hard drive problems). This version was a download and each time the computer crashed I was forced to call Quicken and go through a lot of trouble getting it re-installed.

Rather than go through that again, I decided to purchase a CD Quicken software so I would have a much easier way to install it if the computer crashes again.

This software does everything I need. My use is not complicated with just checking and savings accounts. It works perfectly.

From day one this product has failed to download my banking information. I called customer service and was told that it has to go to a higher level. since then i have been online chatting with Quicken and they keep telling me that it has to go to a high level even though it already has two months ago!!!
I can get the same from my old Quicken 2007. Be sure to call quicken before upgrading and ask if your bank is having problems.

Quicken forced everyone to upgrade with no Cost offset. They stopped supporting (permitting) downloads with previous version.
I have never been so DISAPOINTED with a Company. They continue to add features of little value while removing the truly valuable.

It was time for me to upgrade to some new software and I decided to go with Quicken. I use QuickBooks at the office so I though Quicken might be a good choice. Had I been smart, I would have done a fast internet search and read all of the terrible product reviews. If you know nothing about how personal financial software should work, then this might seem like a good product to you. However, if you have any idea at all what it is supposed to do, this product is pretty much worthless. Let me also say that I am an accountant who has also spent several years working in IT. Those two combined make me fairly confident that this bad review is not a result of lack of knowledge on how to use financial software.

In the two months I've had the product I would guess that the online banking transactions have worked maybe 20% of the time. After multiple discussions with support and repeatedly sending them log files from my computer, they have determined that this is just a "known issue" and they are working on it. They will not give me any estimated time frame for repair. However, it must be a pretty common and ongoing issue as their website has an etire page devoted to the problem.

Thats just the beginning though. The product crashes probably every 4 or 5 times you open it. It does not work with any investment accounts. In fact I've so far been unable to get an investment account to show me a correct balance based on share pricing and quantity held. I could go on and on with the things I don't like, but the bottom line is BUY SOMETHING ELSE! Avoid all the frustration!

  Yes. When setting up your printer, you need to select your "Check Style". Standard Checks print 3 to a page by default.

  Quicken Deluxe 2012 will not allow you to import data directly from Money 2006, but you can set it up to download information directly from your bank and other financial accounts.

I am treasurer of a Masonic Lodge. I am looking for software that will keep track of all income and expenses. I dont have to keep track of individual members, just totals in the categories... Secretary keeps individual records on Grand Lodge software. I just want to input all income such as dues, assessments, dinners, donations, investment income, etc... and then show all expenses such as rent, postage, supplies, grand lodge dues, charity donations, etc..... What software would you recommend??

  Greetings Brother... yes... for basic income and expense tracking QUICKEN will do it... they use it at both my Masonic Lodge and were using it at the BPOE Lodge also... but we needed something more at the BPOE. QUICKBOOKS is preferred if you need balance sheet accounting, working trial balance, or accruals... of sales tax, prepaid dues etc... an inventory of any type... or fixed assets tracking etc. OK...that being said lets get back to Quicken... QUICKEN is a good solid reliable check book program but it is NOT a full blown accounting system. Personally I use QUICKEN for my home finances since the first versions)... business wise I use QUICKBOOKS... Quick Books is more complex software wise, and thus a greater learning curve.
