                  Purchased phone and headset separately. Directions that come with headset are incorrect according to RCA. I spent hours on numerous phone calls to their "customer service" center - [...]AND when they decided my headset was defective, they sent me a PHONE instead.....and ultimately I had to pay over $27 to send the phone and defective headset back to RCA since they obviously dont stand behind their product. NO more RCA products for me!

                  I had a problem with the battery and don't believe the brochure. You can't buy a replacement battery for this unit. You have to get an entire new unit. [...]wait 14 hours for it to charge.

                  You CANNOT operate most features with this headset alone, nor using a handset. It is intended for use with the Base Unit only. If you're planning to use this headset at a remote location away from the base unit, you can only answer an incoming call (on whichever line is ringing) or connect to line 1. You can use a handset to dial by conferencing in to the same line the headset is connected to, but you cannot select line 2 for this unless line 1 is already in use.

                  DO NOT purchase this unless you intend to use it while sitting in front of the base unit. It's really too bad that this headset isn't more useful.

                      This product only works when it wants to. Have an extra handset that it will NOT work with at all. That was the reason I bought it. Has stayed pretty much in the charging cradle. Should have returned it. Waste of money.

                          No, according to the manufacturer this is for the RCA 25255RE2 series. They do not appear to be interchangeable.

                        Any idea about the approx. range of the headset from the base or does it operate from the handset? Also, can you switch lines on the headset from the base or can you use the handset to accomplish this?

                          Range appears to be about the same as for the handsets.

                          You CAN switch lines while using the headset by selecting the line on the base unit.

                          You CANNOT switch lines on the headset alone, nor by using a handset. Most features (line select, mute, redial, etc.) can ONLY be accessed with the headset by using the base unit.

                          You CAN use a handset to dial by conferencing into the same line the headset is connected to.

                          With the headset alone (when you're away from the base unit), you can only answer an incoming call on whichever line is ringing, or connect to line 1 (or line 2 if line 1 is already in use).

                          This headset will work at a minimum of 100 feet. RCA does not provide a maximum distance as it depends on the number of walls, building materials, other electronics and even the weather.

                          You would need to switch lines on the base. This acts as the handset for the connected base. You are able to put line 1 on hold and answer line 2.
