Not so great

First of all, we purchased a base unit phone so that we could add handsets to it later. Since, then we have purchased 3 handsets and only one of the three work. The ...Read complete review

First of all, we purchased a base unit phone so that we could add handsets to it later. Since, then we have purchased 3 handsets and only one of the three work. The other 2 say searching unless I plug their individual packs to the back of the base unit but then that stops the other handset that was working.

Second, my Executive Director and I realized that even with 3 phone lines we are unable to use the cordless handset on a different line when the base unit is being used.

We now have 2 additional cordless handsets that are not useable. If there is something we are missing that we should be doing please let us know. We did already call and have it troubleshooted and what they told us to do did not work either.

              The expansion handsets are useless. If the base station is in use, the expansion handsets are NOT FUNCTIONAL at all. You can not dial out or pick up a call. SO, what is the point of offering an [$], useless, handset? If you want cordless functionality, buy the cordless base station. Otherwise, skip these handsets. It is not listed anywhere in the Staples description, but when you receive these handsets is is printed on the box "Does Not Function Independently from Base Station". To me, this is a useless product.

              I use this product in place of a base set. The instructions on answering and putting it on hold are not clear but you figure out after hanging up on people! OVerall it is best used for someone that does not answer the phone a lot.

                Sounded like the perfect solution to our phone issue in the office. We were wrong. Base phone is great but the expansion cordless handset sucks. You can't use the cordless when the base is on the line and vice cersa. Had to send it back!
