Great find, works well.

Other than the plastic casing mold, it actually works pretty good. Highly recommend it. I previous bought a Memorex microcassette recorder at Radio Shack. Didn't work past a day. Whatever happened to Realitic brand that RS used? Times have changed, not impressed with their choice of brank electronics. So yes this RCA micro cassette recorder was worth the price. I even dropped it twice, not at a great distance, but did not skip a beat. Still runs like a charm. Volume is good too and it comes with a portable clip-on mic. Not much in the negative other than the look. Feel is ok, just hope it lasts.

I transcribe legal documents from this recoroder. The last recorder lasted about 5 years. Just purchased another and I am disappointed that no new technology is available to improve the clarity. This is the case however with all of these handheld recorders. Luckily the price is inexpensive, so if something better comes onto the market, it will be replaced.

        When I first purchased the recorder, it worked fine. It actually worked for approximately 2 months. Then, it just stopped recording. I tried new batteries, I also tried a new tape. I did everything that I could think of that might be causing problems but it would still not work. I then tried to return it to the Staples that I had purchased it at. I still had my receipt for proof of purchase but I was told by the manager that I could not return it because it had been too long. It had only been 2 months at most. I would have expected the recorder to last longer than 2 months.

          The RCA RP3538 Microcassette Voice Recorder by RCA was purchased for transcription by radiologist, cardiologist, and physicians. Initially I ordered the wrong machine. That machine was returned and this one purchased. I could not ask for a better voice recorder in this price range. I had the pleasure of transcribing the firts notes recorded on this machine. The quality of the recording was clear and concise. I had no problems trascribing the doctors notes. The only issue was the fact that I didnt have my headphones. Thank you for fulling the needs of the practice with this machine.

          can't get "free" info from RCA. Staples tried to get info for me from their store/on-line computer but couldn't find. Can't fine human to speak to on RCA site.

                    Yes. There are two tape speeds: Normal-is the tape speed which is compatible with
                    most single-speed microcassette recorders./ and 1/2—doubles the record time and will allow up to 2 hours of recording time when using both sides of a 60 minute (MC-60) microcassette tape. When one side of the tape is used the recorder will stop. You then flip it over to use the other side.
