I had been searching for a quality all-in-one scanner/printer that seemed reliable and easy on toner, but many of the reviews simply turned me off. I finally came to the conclusion that I could get the convenience of an all-in-one and the quality I needed by separately getting a scanner and printer. After considerable research of processors, memory, reliability records, duty-cycle capabilities, toner specs/replacement costs, I was pointed in the direction of Samsung instead of HP, Canon, Epson, or Brother. It was not a clear direction until I saw the specs on the newest products from Samsung and the incredible early promotional value of $100 off the $399 MSRP. It was more or less a leap of faith when I hit the "buy" button on the website due to the lack of reviews, but I have been very pleased with the performance of the Samsung CLP-620ND. The network setup instructions seemed extensive, but in the end I just plugged in the cat-6, power, and used the included setup disc to install drivers/software for my XP 32-bit, XP MCE, and 64-bit Vista computers already on the wired home network. The footprint is slightly deeper than it is wide or high, so I just tucked it away on the lower shelf of a corner bookcase and placed some 6" boards underneath to keep it level. The duplex printing is awesome, the toner coverage is well-balanced, and the prints come out clean and dry with no runs (I've always used HP color-laser paper only). To top it off, it features an excellent sleep mode that keeps it silent and extremely energy efficient when not used. The time from sleep mode to the start of printing is 20 seconds. If turned off completely for a considerable time and then on, it will take an extra 30-60 seconds to run a toner calibration exercise. Toner prices are not out-of-line when compared to competing printers, but there are good prices out there if you know where to look. The printer comes with the standard-size 3 colors and black, all rated around 2500 pages, but there are double-sized toners available that will handle up to 5000 pages. I am just a casual user and have not even used 10% of the toner capacities in the last 2 months of use, but the convenience and speed of this printer over my old inkjets is amazing. No longer do I need to select draft mode to save ink--I can select full color and duplex mode and let the machine do its magic. All-in-all, I would have paid $399 knowing how well it worked, but the $299 promotional price simply made it so much sweeter.

This was the worst experience ever. We bought our printer in June. After two months, the printer stopped working. It made loud noises, smelled, printouts were blurry. Service center told us the fuser unit had failed and need to be replaced as well as the transfer belt, which actually shredded inside the machine. To make a long story short, the "Manufacturer" is refusing to pay for the transfer belt (they claim its a consumable item not covered under warranty) and expect us to pay almost 200 to replace it. Hopefully we will be able to return it to the retailer and buy a different brand.
Comments about Samsung CLP-620ND Color Laser Printer:
I paid [$], tax and shipping included. It's 65lbs and not easily carried, but works great. The reason I have not complained about the use of toner is the Samsung Windows driver allows you to set the printer to conserve the toner and I still get very nice prints in B&W and color. Very modular design and easy to load the color refills. Very energy efficient and very short time to warm up. I use the Network cable from my switch and assigned it a static IP and it prints in less than 1 second of sending a document to the spooler.Does great duplex printing and has a great feature of placing more than one image on a single page. The Samsung phone help lacks in their knowledge of this unit. Staples customer service was Extremely nice.Only time will tell if this product is durable. When you read the negative comment left, it's usually from people who have not read the instructions and are frustrated with their lack of knowledge on the use of a laser printer. It's the old fallback to those who blame others for something that was their fault to begin with.I use mine for my home office and it very economical as compared to inkjets. 4 to 5 cents per page as compared to 30 cents on a inkjet.
I would suggest contacting a technologies expert through Samsung and they will be able to assist you on how to print this particular sized document. You can reach them at (800) 726-7864.

Q:
Can the paper cassette and the Multi Purpose Tray be used at the same time? IE one person printing on plain paper from the cassette and another printing on pink paper from the Multi Purpose tray.
We have several computers all running OS X (10.6) in our office. I bought a multi-purpose HP from Staples and it works great with our AirPort Extreme router, but a Canon I first tried did not (even though it claimed to be OS X and network compatible). I like the look of this Samsung printer (we need a color laser printer, too), but I'm really concerned about it's *actual* wireless network compatibility, given the above experience. Any help/info you can provide would be great.

The Samsung CLT-T508 is a transfer belt for a printer, which you would not need with this particular printer. And the printer would indicate which cartridge is empty so you would not have to change all of them at the same time.
This will handle up to 110lb. stock, which is generally the heaviest of all!

Q:
This printer claims to have 9600 x 600 x 4-dpi resolution. Wouldn't that mean this printer has the BEST resolution compared to ALL the others. P.S. -- I am seeing other printers for $1,000+ that only have 1200 dpi or 2400 dpi.
This has a better resolution compared to the 1200 or 2400 DPI.
