I have been shopping for a new laptop for a year and am happy with the Samsung. I know that it is a good brand and for the money I am very pleased with how it is so much better than my Acer. Windows 8 is a learning curve but Staples provides a class to help you which I am going to enroll in so I can get full use and know all the shortcuts and function keys. It was fairly easy to take out of the box and get set up and downloading apps is pretty painless as well. I love my Netflix app and getting movies on my laptop.

Biggest problems: 1) DVD player always sounds like it is loading and will often open when opening a new internet site, 2) font is difficult to read in web browsers despite trying to fix via all the regular channels. Background is too bright and font not dark enough. 3) tried to work on the above problems with rep but was not helpful; 4) not familiar with apps on Windows 8 - went to two sessions provided by Staples and was told to bring questions after playing around with the apps for a couple of weeks. Came with questions but the reps went through their own little tutorial and saved my questions for last. Thus they repeated what I already knew and failed to answer the problems I had. Not sure if the problems were with Samsung or the new Windows.

laptop is good for everyday use. You can tell when you pay around $300 for a laptop, you're not going to get all the bells and whistles of one that is around $500, but for surfing the web and doing emails, the laptop is fine. Windows 8 is horrible, but there is nothing you can do about that since all computers come with 8 pre-loaded on them now. Holds a charge pretty good. Would no recommend this laptop for heavy gaming or anything that uses a lot of resources because this laptop is not built for that, but rather simple uses.

This has a lot that is different from last computer; not all bad but really difficult to get use to. Windows 8 really hard to become accustomed to. I have a IPad and this is really hard to get use to. Can I get Windows Vista back?

I'm sure Samsung TVs and phones are wonderful, but I find this laptop is pretty cheaply made. The SD slot was used once and is now broken. The DVD slot is cheap and noisy when used. The 4 USB ports are a nice touch. Always better than 3. I'd try another brand on the next outing. Windows 8 makes the whole experience even worse. Printing documents is a horror and limits what the printer can be told to do.

  In Windows 8 system, such as the Samsung Series 3 NP355E5C-AO1US Laptop, includes Windows Movie Maker (formerly Windows Live Movie Maker), added a new Video Stabilization button, with options for anti-shake and wobble corrections. I recommend contacting the manufacturer of software such GoPro Video, Sony Vegas or Final Cut Pro to be advised if they work well with Windows 8.

  Launch Windows Explorer, locate the favorites folder in the navigation panel in the left column, right click on the favorites bar with the star icon, select "Pin to Start". Anything you put in that folder will show up in your favorites on the start screen.
