    This laptop is most comparable to a 10' tablet, at half the cost. I am a techy who can't stand to type on touch-screen tablets. The batter life of this device rivals that of a tablet with more functionality. It does lack in some areas but shouldn't be thought of as a laptop but more a tablet with a keyboard.

    Things difficult to do
    - There is pretty much no way to access file shares on network storage other than ftp.
    - Local storage is limited but available, cloud storage works great and is available for free.
    - Streaming media doesn't work from the laptop so you will need a media encoder somewhere to make that work
    - It doesn't support Netflix, this totally stinks and the only way around this is to install dual boot Linux.

    Things that are easy to do
    - setup is so fast and easy
    - updates are automatic and don't brake you machine like Microsoft
    - automatically load all your settings from other chrome installs, including syncing bookmars
    - file management is so easy, including the cloud storage
    - Multiple user configurations
    ------------------------------
    Things for the techy
    - Installing dual boot to Ubuntu Linux is easy and works good, not perfect but good.
    - making development mode available without totally braking this is easy and your wife will still be able to use it as if nothing happened.
    - XBMC in ubuntu is just too much for this arm processor to handle.
    - If you brake things, just press spacebar on bootup and everything goes back to factory settings.
    - PLEX media server steams beautifully to this machine and the display is amazing.

    Re the item I bought, I did not realize that the Chromebook is not a PC. This is a problem that means I will have to exchange it. Now, for instance, I've discovered that it doesn't recognize my flashdrive.

          This is a really good laptop, and it syncs all your files over google drive. It's a lot different from windows or mac computers, though, and you can't download any applications. It's really lightweight and easy to carry. Don't get discouraged that it doesn't run Word because google docs will work.

            We have a multi login user environment and needed the internet based Google suite of products quickly switchable between accounts. The Chromebook is getting the job done commendably. It turns on fast, shuts itself off, has a long battery life, and doesn't freeze up. It surfs the internet quickly and ably and as yet we have had no problems or concerns.

                  As long as you purchase the correct version of these products, you should be able to install them on any platform/machine. However, Adobe Photoshop generally requires a decent amount of system memory as well as a decent CPU and GPU. The Chromebook barely meets the minimum requirements to run the latest version of Photoshop CS6.
