This new design of the SanDisk Cruzer is attractive (I wear mine on a dongle) and compact. Lightweight and unbelievably durable (I've washed mine many times!) it is a safe, secure and easy way to transfer and/or store data. The only thing about the new design that baffles me (I didn't see it until I opened the package) is that it has a plastic trough instead of the traditional rectangular metal male "Plug" inside the case. It does not appear to be as durable as the traditional one but I have had no issues as yet with the exception of one:

When you plug this into a USB Port, it is predisposed to retracting into its case. It is almost a two handed operation to plug this thing in? Other than that...I am a long time user of SanDisk Products and I have always been pleased with their products from design to price to durability!

The drive is light and easily portable, good for data on the go. Data transfer speeds are up to USB 2.0 specifications, and capacity is as stated, once the included data security software is deleted from the drive. The only concern is the durability of the plastic USB connector interface. The plastic is only on the back side of the USB terminals, unlike the metal shroud that surrounds conventional USB connector terminals, leaving the top side of the terminals exposed when they are ejected from the case. This single sided plastic USB interface leaves the whole drive a bit wobbly when plugged in, and even more prone to possible breakage of the plastic, if it is bumped.

Like it it's small and compact.the only thing I don't like is the slider because when you go and connect to the USB on computer the flashdrive slides back and your not able to connect to the port.
Softwarw that comes with it is good I use the vault keeps your info safe password protected.

    I have never had a problem with scan disc products over a period of 10 years. I have found the scan disc trustworthy and worth any extra expense over others as i have never lost data, pictures etc.

            I am looking for a flash drive that is password protected for the entire 16 GB drive. If I am reading correctly only 2 GB of this drive is protected, or am I reading this wrong? Thanks.

              A:

              If you save the entire data of 16 Gb inside the Vault folder of Secure Access software, then the entire data will be password protected. Sandisk offers secure ONLINE backup for 2gb's of data. This mean that they will allow you to download 2gb of your data through their online backup partner. The drive itself, will be protected with a password that you've created.
