I am a huge fan of thumb drives, the name that I use for this type of device, because they are handy, easy to transport, secure, and the amount of storage they possess boggles my mind. I read about this manufacturer's 128GB thumb drive in computer magazine and sought it out because of the added feature of the encryption detail. I had previously utilized the Bitlocker feature of Windows 7 Ultimate and it took a full day to prepare a thumb drive of this size. To me, encrypted is encrypted...I have no national secretss, just privacy issues. When I found the 8GB drive being promoted, I began visiting retail stores daily to purchase a few because one never seems to run out of a need for them. Finding that the Vault was also part of the 8GB, I purchased more than I care to confess. I've given them to my adult daughters, co-workers, and created a system of naming them because I have so many. It probably sounds like I work for the company but am really a Private Investigator who has a need to securely store data..and the Vault system qualifies as secure.

I bought this on sale (great price), along with a 16gb Cruzer. Never had notable problems with Sandisk before, but the 8gb failed within a week of purchase (2-3 days of actual use). That one was a gift, and it failed during a very critical usage. The sale prices were very deep discounts, so I don't know if these were 'clearanced' as end of runs, or whether they remain regular stock items. At this point, without further information, I cannot recommend this item for purchase.

    This has come in very handy for what I am using it for...I keep my old photos on it so they will never be lost...I have pictures from my great great great grandparents and information about their lives that I want to pass on to my children and grand children.
    I collect all types of music and this is another great place to store my music for future generations of my family of children and grand children.
    I am now considering getting another one just for videos of my family to pass on to my children and grand children.

      I use this particular item to do a newsletter for Retiree's of my husband's group from New York City,. I have been using the San Disk Cruzer for many years now and have been completely satisfied with the ease of use. It's compact, can fit into small spaces and has much space. I would recommend this to a friend. Price is fair especially when on sale which is the usual way I purchase them. I try to watch for the sale because I use them often and cost effective it is.
