I've been using one of these for about 9 months, without any untoward incident. I have used it in both a desktop and a laptop, and the speedup of the laptop was most noticeable, by far. The laptop boots into Windows 7 in about 8 - 10 seconds.

The big boost in speed, however, seems to apply only to boot up and application startups. Once an application is running, there doesn't seem to be any difference in speed compared to a spinning hard drive. At least that is my impression with the applications I use.

One caveat - be wary of negative reviews from users of Windows XP. The disk formatting utility included in Windows XP was not meant for SSDs, and doesn't align sector boundaries as these disks require, except by occasional, fortuitous accident. Windows XP will run OK on these devices when they're formated correctly, but the way to get it to work right is to format the drive initially with an installer for later versions of Windows, or with a more modern third party utility.

Comments about SanDisk 128GB 2.5" SATA III (6 Gb/s) MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD):

i have heard so much about ssd's for the last few years. i decided to soup up my work laptop by putting extra ram and an ssd. first the ram, then a few months later the ssd. i reinstalled all programs on the ssd from scratch, from windows 7 on up. i am concerned because i have heard ssd's fail (knock on wood) but it's been a couple months and so far so good. i still have the old drive in a drawer just in case. if i bought a new computer today i wouldn't expect better performance than this.
