The size sold me on this product. I needed a locking file/storage for my secretary to store large three-ring binders that hold confidential client information. File cabinets this size are monetarily out of the question but, would of been the purchase if not for this cabinet. This was an online purchase and I liked the write-up and picture of this product. When it arrived, I was taken aback slightly. Somewhere between inspection for expediting and my office, the cabinet was dropped on its top corner so the doors were hard to open and impossible to close. The gauge of steel/tin (?) used was thin enough I did not need a hammer or any other like-tool to fix the issue. I was able to press the corner imperfection back into place with my fingers. Once in place, the doors and locking mechanism worked fine. I would of preferred a sturdier piece but, this does the job.

This is the lowest price fully assembled storage cabinet I could find. The quality is much better than all of the flimsy ready to assemble cabinets which are slightly less expensive than this product. I am glad I bought this one as I knwo it will hold up for a long time. I plan on purchasing more of them in the near future to continue organizing my office.

Using as an owner storage locker at our beach condo. Great except for the instructions for putting the lock together could be a little clearer. Overall......great product! I feel my personal belongings will be safe when renters are in house.

I've been wanting to get a cabinet like this for a long time to help organize my office and to stow away some valuable equipment that I use for work. The lock isn't going to stop anyone who has the time and will to break it, but it does offer a general deterrent. It would delay a possible thief from getting in there.

This cabinet is not too big, not too small, for my space. To get something more sturdy or heavier weight steel, you'd have to pay a lot more for it. This suits my purpose. So glad I purchased it.

This is very badldy designed. I wasn't worried about the lock not being secure, but the wholr handle assembly and the mechanism that keeps the doors closed is extremely flimsy. (If you assemble it wrong, or leave it off, or when it wears out, the doors will just swing open). The left handle doesn't even move, though you will find yourself reflexively trying to turn it when you open the doors.

The assembly instructions I got were missing some critical information, had two steps in reverse order, and did not include a diagram of how to orient the last piece of the assembly which locks everything into place. When I called the company, their expert gave me the wrong directions over the phone, causing me to damge it when I followed his instructions.

The item was all ready damaged as a result of its poor shipping container (mostly plastic wrap, with a little cardboard on the top and the bottom). It looked like someone had taken a small sledge hammer to the top of the right door, which made a good sized dent and removed some of the paint. One of the inside walls and one of the shelves were also scratched. The doors were sealed shut by shipping tape which, when removed, took off some of the paint along the edges of both doors, more than an inch wide. Based on this, I expect this item will be very easily scratched.

The shelves have very flimsy supports. For shipping, they also had plastic clasps that are supposed to hold them in place. Several of these were rattling around inside the cabinet when I received it. One was wedged into its hole so tightly that I couldn't remove it. I had to break it off with a pair of pliers, and what remains of it now blocks the hole so that the nearest shelf cannot be moved up a notch.

I called the head of manufacturing for the company, for assistance with the door assembly, but he wan't much help and didn't seem terribly concerned about it. He asked me to call back if I had any further questions and, when I noticed the damage and did so, he didn't bother to return my call. (I returned it to Staples instead).

Assuming I get a replacement that is not damaged in shipping, I will still have to contend with doors that will look misaligned because of the mechanism used to open them (the right door being slightly smaller than the left, to allow room for the rods that hold it closed at the top and bottom), the fact that a tiny piece of metal holds the left door in place when closed, that the design of the shelves and interior actually leaves less room for storage than it initially seemed (poor use of interior space) and the fact that the paint is so easily scratched (even by the packing tape) but I don't see any other storage units avaialble in this price range. I wanted to say "you get what you pay for", but in this case, you actually get much less. I advise purchasing it only, as in my case, as a last resort, until you find something better.
