    I use cabinets at work to store binders. I run into a problem with the drawers not being deep enough or shelving high enough. Many cabinets are made for manila file folders. This design is perfect for what I need, but the specifications aren't detailed enough for me to determine if it will be adequate in space. Can a binder fit, spine up, in the drawer? How many shelves can I utilize when filing binders like you would shelve books on a bookcase?

      A:

      The file drawer will accommodate binders with the spine facing up, however it is designed to hold letter or legal size hanging files. This cabinet features one fixed center shelf and two adjustable shelves each holding 150lbs if evenly dispersed over entire shelf. You may utilize all the shelves according to the height of your binders.

      According to its specification, its width is 36 inch. So after subtracting essential spaces from the both side of the bottom drawer to function, the drawer's width is 34 inches (subtract 1 inch from both right and left side for its functionality) . And as it mentioned, the depth is 18 inch. With 34 inch width and 18 inch depth, most commonly used binders(8.5*11 size or smaller /larger) would easily fit in the drawer.
