This is a beautiful desk and well made and solid. It is a "factory made" desk packed for home assembly. The only thing is--- allow yourself 7-8 hours on a Saturday to put it together. It must be a Saturday so you can go to church and repent on Sunday. So many screws and pieces. Says you need a screwdriver---have an electric screwdriver. Ay least 250 screws to put in. Not a single piece is pre-assembled. It is close to 200 pounds of pieces. I wondered why I would buy such a thing many times while putting it together but in the end it was well worth it. Beautiful, rich and expensive looking. Looks as if it cost more than the price, so my suggestion---hire Staples to put it together---still more than worth the price.
Very nicce desk for a great price! There we LOTS of parts, but the instructions were VERY good and EVERYTHING was labeled! So, even though it took about 4-5 hours to set up, as long as you followed the instructions step by step, you couldn't make any mistake. I did have a couple of slightly damaged pieces. 2 of the "front" drawer panels were just a bit damaged and the lock didn't work, not sure if it was because the washer was bent, or a bad lock or a combination. [...] Only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, was because of those 3 pieces. But, all in all, it is a very sturdy desk, looks really nice and has lots of "extra" touches. Like the bottom of the desk has molding, the top of the desk has molding and the drawers accomodate letter and legal size, it has a "moveable" part that allows for this. So, it does have some extra touches that I wouldn't have expected. I caught this while it was on sale under $300 plus I had a $25 coupon, so I just couldn't beat the price anywhere. I would buy it at the regular price as well. Better than some $1000 desks I have seen! Don't hesitate!
This desk looks wonderful when assembled. It took one person about 4 hours. We also purchased two of the matching lateral files and two bookcases. Total assembly time was 7 hours. The office looks rich and like we spent far more furnishing it. We did use an electric screwdriver but found assembly instructions very clear and easy to follow on all pieces. Everything fit together nicely.
Use cups, bowls, pie pans, cake pans to segregate parts. Tape a lable that correspondes to the manuf. designation and that will expedite part recognition and assembly.
The desk is really well built, also don't be such a tight wad, hire the peeps to come out and assemble it for you, trust me you will be glad you did. The desk is great and it's finally good to see some good quality. Donna
