We needed a unit to put in an area that was near a doorway, so it couldn't be too deep or too wide. This was perfect for the area. It would have been nice if it was bit taller with one additional shelf. But, this was nicer than most of the other units. It has very nice styling, it's not just a standard bookcase. I looked in several places for a bookcase. This was by far the best looking and for the price is a bargain for the quality. I have several Sauder pieces including a desk that I bought over 15 yrs ago and it is still in very good shape. This unit was easy to assemble, only took about 40 min. All parts were included, no damage (in the past I did have a problem with damaged or missing pieces. But, Sauder is excellent in replacing pieces if you call and let them know).
