I had been looking for a low bookcase to put in my 2-year-old son's room. I wanted it to be of nice quality since his bedroom furniture is very nice. I though the color of this bookcase would match nicely, and it does. I also like that it is only two shelves, because I wanted something low to the ground in case he ever climbed on it. The only thing that I don't like is that the back of the bookcase is just thick cardboard covered with paper that looks like wood grain. I would prefer a real backing made of the same wood as the rest of the pieces, because sometimes books can push against the cardboard back causing the small nails to pull apart from the frame.

Locking devices are flimsy and the plastic shell can distort, making insertion difficult.
Although the wood is heavy and the verneer looks good, the area around the locking devices can crumble if you slip when locking pieces together.
It really needs two people to assemble properly.
The assembly manual needs to be organized in a better manner.
It appears that the quality has degraded over the years.

            I was very pleased with the construction and design of this bookcase. It has a beautiful finish and looks great next to my cherry desk. It is solid and well engineered. The only drawback I noticed that it was heavy and hard to carry by yourself. I think it weighs something like 62 pounds.
