Hard drive died in my laptop. Installed the hybrid drive, installed new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. Most drivers were already in Windows 7, making setup pretty easy. Boot times are substantially quicker and frequently used applications load quickly.

I purchased this HDD for my wife's computer, she was always complaining to me about how slow her computer was running, she is the gamer of the house, so I did a search on Staples website, found The Seagate Solid State Hybrid mix with a regular HDD, fiqured I would give it a try, so far she is really happy with it,seems to run a little faster than the standard 7200rpm that I have in mine. Had it a month so far no complaints yet.

If you need lots of storage but want solid state performance this is the drive for you. I put this in my Sony Vaio. It took five min to install. My boot time is about 40 seconds. Only had it for two weeks but use it for business daily. So far so good. I would give it five stars but have not had it long enough yet.

  I have double checked the transfer rate with the manufacturer, and it is 3Gb/s. Please contact Seagate at 800-732-4283 for further information.

  That is the maximum speed the interface can transfer, not the hard drive. Depending on the hard drive, you can get read and write speeds of usually less than 100 Megabytes per second. A hybrid is supposed to be able to have even faster read speeds, while a solid state drive has the best. That being said, 3 Gbps(GigaBits per second) is a speed of roughly 384 MegaBytes per second. (Note there are 8 bits per byte). So even though most interfaces can transfer at that speed, normal hard drives can never use all of it.
