    I bought this to replace another external drive that failed. I'm computer literate, but by no means an expert. It was simple to install, just plug in, let Windows identify & install the drivers then install the Seagate manager software & let it update.
    Seting up the backup was easy as well. I just selected the entire drive to be backed up on a daily basis & set the time.
    So far it's working like a charm, no problems.

    Like the drive; hate the software. Software is difficult to use, non-intuitive and cumbersome. I'd like to be able to get to the drive via my desktop "computer" icon, but can't. I'd like to be able to simply drag-n-drop files to the drive, but can't. The software demands you go through it to do anything. Cumbersome; not helpful at all. Also have the persistant "drive not ready to disconnect, try later" problem. Several times it went all night with that warning. yuk!

        I have not yet used the built-in Seagate Dashboard software for backup, nor the Seagate cloud connection. I plan to try these out at some time in the near future. For now, I am using the Windows Backup program that is integrated into Windows 7. This works well except - the first file backup was very slow, probably due to indexing and locating all files. I also have a smaller external hard drive that may have caused some of the slowness. However, the image backup that was created by Windows Backup went very quickly, probably less than 5 minutes over a USB 3 connection.
