Q: Does this Drive is compatible with USB 2.0? Asked on 11/28/2012 by Subodh from Ronkonkoma NY Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: Yes, it will work with all 2.0 devices, just will only work up to 2.0 speeds. Answered on 12/1/2012 by helpful guy from United States A: This drive is compatible with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, as indicated on the side of the box and in the instruction manual. By definition, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, with the exception of really old computers which could have USB 2.0 ports which might not provide enough power. I have two of these drives (this 500GB model and the 1TB model) and I regularly use them with both types of USB ports on my computers. Note that you should unplug any other USB 2.0 device which is attached to an adjacent USB 2.0 port if both ports share the same internal power source. This will assure that this drive continuously receives the necessary power to operate correctly. If you specifically want a USB 2.0 interface, then the MAC version of this drive (which is also PC compatible) comes with a USB 2.0 interface since MACs don't support USB 3.0. The actual drive inside the case is a standard 2.5" SATA drive. Answered on 12/1/2012 by GoneToPlaid from Los Angeles, CA A: No, at this time the drive is only USB 3.0 compatible.
