I use one as a file share server and media stream server, the other backs up the 1st and all of my other computers. It is simple to setup. I do wish that some settings were changeable and It was difficult to find what ports to open on my firewall for some of the settings.

I use this product to automatically backup my three wireless networked windows laptops. This is a great product and easy to use. Setup was easy after the product was defined in my network firewall.

I needed a NAS to store my Music collection and serve it to my new SONOS wireless music system. I am running Widows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit. I hooked the BlackArmor up to the network and Windows 7 immediately saw the public share. I created a music subfolder under public, and copied my 38 GB of MP3 Music files to it. The Sonos saw the share, and I deleted the music directory that pointed to the PC. Then I re-initialized the music library pointing to the NAS share. I didn't even have to re-do all my playlists! The music played flawlessly from the NAS, and now I don't have to leave the PC on when I only want my Music library to play throughout the house. FABULOUS PRODUCT!

Trying to backup from a wireless laptop to this unit could never complete. It always errored out. I returned it and upgraded my router to the Cisco E3000. Much happier with the USB attached storage.

I have the hard drive set up to back up my music/movies library. I save all my music to it and Itunes has no errors reading from it. I have a 1TB external plugged into the rear USB of the blackarmor unit, and it allows me to share the external on my network. so i have 2TB worth of NAS which i was hoping would happen.

The software took me awhile to find the settings that worked for me, but once i got them down i am very happy with the drive.

Transfer speeds are around 10-30MB/s which is average for network attached storage. So the single con is really to be expected with these types of systems.

I am planning on buying another unit to use with my other 1TB non network external. And from what the Seagate rep told me, you can use the same Seagate software to manage multiple backups on multiple drives.

Remember, the software is licensed for 5 computers only. More licenses are available but remember the cost. That is not a problem with me because i have no interest of accessing this over the internet, just wanted the NAS.
