The Seagate Expansion desktop external hard drive provides 1 TB of storage, allowing you to move your entertainment and other data files off your computer hard drive for an immediate improvement in performance. Transferring data goes fast with a speedy USB 3.0 connection, or you can use a USB 2.0 port. This hard drive is set up for plug-and-play performance on your PC, so it works right out of the box.

Speedy Data Transfer
The USB 3.0 is the latest iteration of USB protocols; with about ten times the speed of USB 2.0, it provides lightning-fast transfers. If you only have a USB 2.0 port available, the Seagate Expansion works with that as well.

Simple Drag-and-Drop Interface
When you're ready to transfer data, just use Windows Explorer to drag and drop files directly into the Seagate Expansion hard drive. Clearing files from your hard drive will give you a noticeable improvement in computer performance. You can also back up files to the Seagate Expansion using Windows utilities.

Fast Setup
The Seagate Expansion sets up fast: plug in the power cord, plug in the USB cable, and you're finished. Windows will automatically recognize the drive and install its driver if necessary. The Seagate Expansion's power management system will automatically minimize power usage by the drive.

      The Seagate allows you to copy/move files to it. Subsequently, connecting the Seagate to a second PC allows you to copy/move those files there. This would be a manual process of file selection and movement.

      Yes, like the upgrade from USB 1.1 to 2.0, the new 3.0 connectors and cables will be physically and functionally compatible with hardware from the older specs. Because of this, the hard drive will work but you won't reach optimal transfer speed (Super speed), unless using a USB 3.0 cable, which is plugged into a USB 3.0 supported port on your computer.
