Seagate's portable GoFlex Satellite external hard drive gives you the mobility you need to conveniently view your multimedia files on different viewing devices and while you're on the go. With 500 GB of storage space, this drive can be a central repository for all of your files. The drive is big enough to hold 300 high-definition movies in a compact casing that fits in your pocket. It wirelessly streams media to your laptop, tablet, or smartphone, so you're never annoyed because the file you want is at home or otherwise unavailable. Eight devices can access files on this drive over a Wi-Fi network at the same time, with a wireless range of up to 150 feet. The GoFlex Satellite external hard drive is a particularly useful accessory for tablets, since they typically have limited internal storage.

  • Automatic Syncing
    • The 500 GB GoFlex Satellite external hard drive uses Seagate software to automatically sync files from your PC or Mac to the device. If you add or change a file on one of your computers, the external drive updates its file directory as soon as it is brought within range.
  • Extended Battery Life
    • This portable drive uses its USB port to charge its battery, so you don't have to carry around a heavy power adapter. The battery offers up to seven hours of use and up to twenty-five hours of standby time.
  • Fast Data Transfer
    • The Seagate GoFlex Satellite portable external hard drive uses USB 3.0 for fast data transfers. It is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 for older devices. You can also use an adapter, sold separately, to convert the USB port to a Thunderbolt or FireWire 800 port for additional file transfer speed.

        I wanted to see movies on my iPad without the hassle of iTunes or Netflix. This was a great find. With the use of an DVD converter software using this product was a snap. I loved it so much I bought a second one for my wife.

              This is what it says on the Seagate GoFlex Satellite description. The description says the external hard drive is on the go and while in your pocket you can stream movies to your iPad. How does this exactly work? How do you view your files and different devices on the go, wirelessly?

                The drive has a battery that keeps it on between charges. You view your files from any compatible wireless device. For example, if the device is in your pocket or within 150 feet, you can turn on your iPad or other wireless device to see and use your files.
