I have used this product in the past for my home business. My problem has not been with the marker itself but with my 3 year old daughter who TAKES them and writes on the walls. And YES they are VERY permanent. NOTHING will take this ink off. TRUST ME on that; I've tried everything. You have to either sand the paint off the wall of repaint over the marks.If you have young children in your house, a better option might be BLACK Dixon China Markers ([...]). They're a LOT cheaper and do almost the same job, but you can clean the marks off easily with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser ([...]). But in an office situation where marks on the wall aren't an issue, these are great permanent markers!

The main thing about this Sharpie is that the cap is *very* difficult to take off. This is bad if you need the Sharpie on and off and you have to keep putting the cap on and off so it doesn't dry out. Way too much of a hassle with that to buy again. Better-capped Sharpies out there.

I appreciate the chisel tip--it offers a variety of thicknesses to write with. This is great for projects like school posters.
Large capacity, large amount of ink (can bleed a bit), easily held to write with.
The cap on the marker is not the same as the one pictured, and it does not remove or replace easily--which is one reason I thought I would try these markers to begin with! (Will someone please design a cap on these large markers that does not require super human strength to remove or replace?) The smell of the marker does not dissipate from the air or the item easily (even after it is dry), so using it in a well-ventilated area may be a consideration. We labeled a cardboard box with the marker and had to store it in another room because of the overwhelming smell for a surprising 3 to 4 days. Perhaps as the marker wears down, this may not be a problem...
