DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM!!!
At first, it works but over time it loses the ability to produce any heat at all.
I should have read the reviews (especially by Derek from Gurnee, IL) before purchasing this item because I experienced the exact same thing he did.
I purchase the item in 2010 and it worked great. Now it's 2011 and it's getting colder. Brought the heater out to use again and it doesn't even produce any heat!
So just like Derek the reviewer said..."the product is faulty and you'll definitely not get any reimbursements, so be careful, and buy a different brand" and I will never buy a Soleus Air product again just like him because I too don't want to support their company in producing poor quality products.

I so wanted this to work but it is pretty lame. At first I thought I got a lemon as I didn't feel any warmth at all and it took a long time to get even slightly warm but now that I see the other reviews, I know it's just a bad product from the get go. I thought that maybe it took awhile to heat up and then it would kick out some heat but nope, you just keep waiting and waiting for it to get warm and it never does. It really just uses a bunch of energy and doesn't get remotely warm. Try the Boston one instead, it rocks!

I bought this to replace a very old heater that was not up to safety standards. I picked this particular one because it was thin and seemed like it could fit anywhere. I was right that it fits anywhere, but you can't have it turned on just anywhere. The heat comes out of the top and both sides which eliminates putting it under a desk, next to a wall, etc. Storage-wise, its great! Unfortunately I did not spend this much for a pretty heater that I can't use. You can definitely feel the heat, but you have to be facing the heater and less than 1 foot away from it. My old heater could heat the entire lobby of our school and it was under my desk. I will be returning this heater ASAP. Too bad. :o(

The 1000 Watt version of this product worked great at first, but over time, this particular product line of Soleus Air Micathermic heaters will lose their ability to heat over time. Advertised at 1000 Watts, now, after 1 year, is 478 Watts, and loses wattage each day it's used. This means it's outputting less and less heat. I'm sure that this 1500 Watt version will produce the same results over time.[...]This is product is faulty and you won't get any reimbursements, so be careful, and buy a different brand, or a different heating technology like ceramic.I will not ever buy a Soleus Air product again - I do not want to support their company in producing poor quality products [...]
