I shoot Hi-Def video for my university. When I have problems burning DVDs, the first thing I do is try a test burn with a Sony DVD +RW. They never fail.
These DVDs are the highest quality I've found. They are well worth the price for the peace of mind of knowing that your video will work in every player.

I'm using these discs to store backups of my data files. Can use the same disc over and over to update the backups.

Also use these discs to record TV shows from my laptop to watch on my HD TV. Again, can use the same discs over and over.
