I use Sony DVD+RW discs to record TV shows on my DVD recorders. There is no need to finalze them. As soon as you record, you can take the disc to any DVD player and watch it. You can then record more, until it is full. And, they are eraseable and reusable. They combine the best attributes of both DVDs and video tape.

Be warned - I found out after the fact from a tech friend that Sony DVD's are not compatbile with many computers. Mine is a Dell. I could write the DVD, but could not playback on my computer, my TV or my parent's TV.

Works as advertised on compatible burners. If you have an older burner, make sure that the firmware supports this particular speed and disk info code.

I record Video on a Camcorder and pass through to Sony DVDirect at horse shows. I preformat DVD to save time, and found that if it fails to format the first time, the second attempt is successful. Unfortuately, this make the disc unstable, after the first recording it will sometimes reformat the disc wiping out the media. If it fails to format the first time, I now trash the DVD.

I was disappointed in the fact that only 10 of the 25 Sony DVD's were usable. I had to return 15 because they were defective. This same thing occured with the "cd-r 52x" HP case I purchased. I was unable to use 20 of the 50 in that case.
