We bought several of these so our teachers could record student responses. Teachers found them easy to use and start recording. Sound quality was good. Retrieving files directly from the device (as with a flash drive or camera) was easy. However, the Sound Organizer software could only be run by an Administrator or Power User, not a normal user. This is not acceptable in our environment.

Took more than an hour to figure out how to record. Almost useless. A tape recorder would take only 20 seconds to figure out.

This was simple to use and set up right from the box. Compact without being too small. Light weight without seeming cheaply made.
If you are in the back of the class room, make sure your recording volume is set high.
Easy to download to your computer and add to a media player (MP3 file) for review later.

Really good recorder. I recommend putting it on top of a handkerchief as I read in another review. I have large living room and it picks up sound from the furthest area of the room. Good buy for the price.

Can I use this device to record telephone interviews? If so, do I need any additional accessories?

                • A:

Yes it can be used to record telephone conversations. Depending on the type of phone you will either need a 2.5mm jacked microphone or a suction mic.

Does digital pitch control mean that when you speed up the playback it won't sound like Alvin & the chipmunks? What if I want that option?
Asked on 4/12/2012 by Anonymous from sacramento, Ca.

                1 answer

                • A:

Pitch control is another term for playback speed. Your voice will still have a higher pitch when sped up during playback.

The maximum recording time afforded by the internal memory is 500+ hrs, but a 16GB microSD card can expand the ICDPX312's maximum recording time upwards of 4000+ hrs. Battery life may vary on the type of battery you use.
