Comments about Staedtler® 18" Graphic Arts Ruler:

This is a decent, low cost graphic design ruler, especially good if you measure picas. However, the ruler is not made of transparent material, which makes it hard to use some of the scales. Also, the 'points' scale does not match up with the 'points' used by your word processor or desktop publishing software. When I printed 14-point font (according to MS Word) on the printer, the ruler measured it at 9-point. I understand there is some conversion factor that should be applied, but just be aware that the ruler doesn't match the software.

I was looking for a long ruler that would be light and comfortable to use on a portable lightboard, yet sturdy enought to assist me with straight lines. This inexpensive ruler was just what I needed.
