I bought this product because there was no other choice. The length I need only came in gold tip. I could have purchased an ordinary cable for a fraction of the cost but was in a time crunch. Staples made [$] the easy way by not offering another option.

I had to get a longer cable but my printer stopped working. Tried a neighbor's cable and it worked so I replaced mine with the prooper length cable and saved me from having to buy a new printer.

  Yes, that is the correct cable to connect the printer directly to a PC or laptop. To connect to a network you would need an ethernet cable.

I bought this cable to program an operator interface. It woorked the first couple times I used it. Now the pc is saying it cannot recognize the usb device. Does this cable require a special driver for xp? I can't remember if I installed one when I first bought it.
